I know, I know. The Boxster in the background is much cooler. But I cannot afford to rent that, so it DOES NOT COUNT.
After giving up my A5 after three pretty happy years I wanted to see what the competition is like. And first impressions are (after only 7 miles: Avis - to office - to home) the competition is pretty flipping good.
Will be driving in the city and on British country roads (hella bumpy) and motorways (hella crowded) during a mini holiday, so hopefully I'll really get to see what the 4 series is like to live with. Will post more as we go along (including better pics than the iPhone snap above...).

If it was an M4 I'd be right with you, but it's a 420i with the M Sport package. So, honestly, I'd take the Boxster in a heartbeat!

fair enough. I'm not a Porsche guy, so I'd pick many things over a boxster. Former coworkers of mine with "real" Porsches (their words, not mine) laugh at Boxsters and their owners.
For what it's worth, they drive GT2, Turbos, GT3, etc etc. General Dynamics sure paid well...
